INDEX

[309] !1812 BIRTH: 10 November, 1812, Hardin County, Kentucky. Sources are several
obituaries printed in White County, IN newspapers (see below).

[310] !PARENTS-CONFLICT: There is no primary source that documents the identity of
the parents of Sarah Edmonson Chenoweth (Edwards). There is, however a
compelling body of circumstantial evidence that supports the assertion that
her parents were Arthur Chenoweth 3rd and his wife Elizabeth Edmonson.
Marriage of Parents: According to Nelson County KY, Marriage records.
page 29, Arthur Chenoweth married Elizabeth Edmonson, Bond 11 Sept 1809 signed
by Samuel Abell (her uncle), consent filed with bond signed by Lucy Polk (her
grandmother), guardian of Elizabeth. Witness to consent: Robert Edmonson (her
uncle?) and Samuel Abell.
Census Records: A female Sarah's age appears in the census records of
Arthur Chenoweth's family in the 1820 and 1830 census, 1820 in Hardin County
Kentucky and 1830 in Barthomolew County Indiana. The presence of Sarah in
these counties in 1820 and 1830 is well documented by her obituaries.
Although there are multiple Chenoweth families listed in both counties, the
Arthur Chenoweth household is the only Chenoweth family in the county listed
with a daughter Sarah's age.
Family Names: Sarah's middle name, Edmonson, strongly supports the
relationship with her mother Elizabeth Edmonson. Further, Sarah's first son
was named Arthur Lawrence (Edwards) supporting her relationship with both her
father and grandfather (Arthur) and her paternal grandmother Elspa Lawrence.
Her first daughter was named Sarah Elizabeth (Edwards). Sarah and Elizabeth
(although common names) were the names of Sarah Chenoweth's two grandmothers
(Sarah Abell and Elizabeth Edmonson).

[763] Donald MacGibbon (14), father of Elizabeth (Betty) MacGibbon (7),
may have been born 13 July 1741 near or in Inveraray the son of
William MacGibbon (28) and Davida Campbell (29).

[764] Little is know of Donald MacGibbon and his wife Mary Adams other
than they married on April 29 1788 in a third nearby parish,
Kilmodan.

[765] "Donald McGibbon in this parish and Mary Adams of
Inverchallern Gorvelychan name in courte marriage on 28
April and Married on 29th April".

[766] We can presume that before 1804 the family moved from Kilmoden to
Kildalton on Islay based on the marriage in 1804 of their
daughter (age 14) at that place. There are no records for any
siblings of Betty MacGibbon so she may have been an only child.
