twelve children, of whom two, Furman and Elizabeth Maxwell, are still living.
The names of the sons were Joseph, Lewis, James and Firman.

[367] !BIOGRAPHY: In some traditional stories of the Dye family, some Indians came to
the cabin, begging for food. Mrs. Dye gave them some buttermilk to drink. They
refused it, thinking it was poison, until Mrs. Dye took a cup and drank some
herself.

[368] PARENTS: E-Mail From Scotty Britten, Sept 1996:
From "Genealogical & personal history of Allegheny Valley, PA...," by John W.
Jordan, copyright 1913: pg. 1127-Egbert the name dates in America from 1660 whe
Governor Egbert came from Holland on the ship "Spotted Cow" and settled in New
Amsterdam. The family has spread (sounds like a disease??) to all parts of the
America and in the line of William Egbert, particularly, has produced many men
eminent in the medical profession. There is no evidence that Tunis Egbert, the
ancestor of the Egbert line, was related to Gov. Egbert, but the supposition is
that they were father and son. It lists much more info that this, but here's
the important stuff: (II) Tunis Egbert, bought land on Staten Island in 1698,
lists children....; (III) Abraham, married Francyntje Parain (Perrine), lists
children...; (IV) John, born Staten Island, settled near Cranberry, Monmouth
(now Middlesex) Co, NJ (John-there were Dye's in Cranberry), wife Margaret,
lists children...; (V) William, baptized 16Oct1753-Monmouth Co, NJ, was a
trooper in the Rev. War, sustained powder burns on his face and was permanently
marked, migrated to western PA in 1800 and was the first white settler in that
part of Mercer Co (now Sandy Lake Twp), was a shoemaker & owned a tannery,
married Elizabeth Job, died 1816, children: Job (lived in Georgetown, OH), Sara
(b. 5May1783), Clarissa, Charlotte, Ursula, Elizabeth, and Lewis. Boy does tha
Sarah sound familiar!! The birth date is even close (drop the 2 in 25 and add
year). That was all that they listed about her though. I'm going to bet that
this one is her, but then again, it is only a guess. If you want, I can send
the rest of the info (dates, children, etc) later if either of you are
interested.

[369] [Research Note: I have reviewed a copy of the above cited document, and the
referenced page does not contain the material mentioned by Scott. Clearly,
there is some mistake here or different versions of the same book]

[370] Reply E-mail to Scott Britten, Sept 1996:
Now, I really do think that your hunch about my Sarah's family has a good
chance of being correct. The proximity of Allegheny County (note that there wa
no Mercer County yet) to Westmoreland where Sarah and Joseph lived is
significant. I am thinking how I can absolutely link our Sarah to William
Egbert. If William made a will and mentioned his daughter Sarah Dye, that woul
do it. Or if one of her siblings mentioned her in a will. So I have ordered
the will index for Allegheny County.

[371] I find that Sarah's own children include the names of three of her supposed
siblings, Lewis. Charlotte, and Elizabeth, but not the names of her parents,
William or Rebecca (assuming that Rebecca is correct). If I could find some
marriage record for Sarah either to Joseph Paul or to Ezekiel Dye, there might
be some witness or location information which would give clues. Any other
ideas?

[372] Regina Barry sent be some counts from the PA 1800 census. There were three
families (out of a total of six Egbert families) in PA that had a female of our
Sarah's age (16-26). These were William and Job Egbert in Allegheny County an
Sarah Egbertin Montgomery county. I need to track down more information on thi
Job Egbert of Allegheny County. It's paculiar that Job is both a surname and a
given name for this family group.

Family 1 : Alice BIBBS
  1.  Minnie RUDISILL
  2. +John Wyly Bud RUDISILL
  3. +Marion Thomas RUDISILL
  4. +Joe RUDISILL

INDEX

[1458] !FAMILY ORIGINS: The Rudisill family according to family legend came from
Germany and settled in North Carolina. Juanita Rudisill says that her father
(Marion Thomas Rudisill) claimed that his grandfather or great grandfather
(this point is not clear) could not speak English. This implies that the
person is question was an immigrant and probably was in middle age or older.

[1459] !RESIDENCE: According to Juanita Rudisill Wood, her grandfather (Davis
Rudisill) came from "Linn" Oklahoma. There is no such place today. According
to the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma (based on 1910 census data), Linn was a post
office in Marshall County. This was part of Chickasaw land in Indian
Terratory.

[1460] !PROFESSION: Davis Rudisel may have run the saloon in Linn Oklahoma.
