!RESEARCH: Many researchers state her name as Mary Applegate, based on a
family story of the Dyes that Ezekial Dey had an uncle Anthony Applegate, who
was killed in his doorway in NJ by Tories. No suitable Mary appears in any
Applegate research; and hard evidence is lacking for an appropriate Anthony
Applegate. More research needed here. Other oral reports state that John Dey
& Anthony Applegate married sisters. The Perrine family also has the story
abt an Anthony Applegate shot in his doorway - father of Thomas Applegate m.
Sarah Baird.

Thomas Spalding was transported into the Province of Maryland in 1657 by John
Shircliffe. He served his period of indentureship under John Shircliffe and
Ann, Shircliffe's widow.
[1321]
Thomas Spalding and Katherine Hall each demanded 50 acres of land for
satisfactory completion of service for transportation.
Thomas subsequently patented tracts of land called St. Giles, Spalding's
Addition, and William's Hermitage.
[1322] Thomas Spalding died intestate.
