!Per Worth Ray in TN Cousins:
" I believe this John at St. Andrews Cambridge was the common ancestor of
Antony of Over and Richard Peter, son of John and died in 1593, was their
father. Richard became the father of Benjamin, Clerk of Council in VA, 1630,
and Antony of Over was the father of Antony, who, according to Nugent, came to
VA in 1630, and is the direct ancestor of the Long, Nash, Halbert and Simonton
line. Antony II was the father of Richard Harrison who received a land patent
in VA July 6, 1664 (Nugent). He, in turn was the father of Andrew who married
Eleanor_________, and left a will in Essex Co. VA, 1718."

There is some conflict on the surname of Eleanor (Elliot/Ellit/Elliott or
Long) but all sources seem to agree on the children.166,9,168,14
Rick Harrison shares his view on Elinor:
"Our records acknowledge that Eleanor's name may have been Elliot, but
our researcher said it was customary for guardians of orphans to be
chosen from among relatives -- usually aunts, uncles if there were no
older brothers or sisters. Our researcher theorized that Eleanor may
have been a Battaile or a sister to Elizabeth Battaile's mother, who was
Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Major Lawrence Smith of early Virginia.
Both John Battaile, and Lawrence Smith were some of the most
influential men of Virginia."461

The following information comes from a book, "Highlights of the Capital
Hill Community - Jimmie Harrison Taylor's Research". It was sent to me
in an e-mail message from Ron Bewley (RBewley@aol.com) on Thu, 13
Feb 1997.
There are two Andrew Harrisons mentioned in the book, one the father
of the other. There is nothing about who they may have married.
"Richard Harrison also had a son named Andrew who died in 1718. His
son, Andrew (died in 1752) married Elizabeth Battaile. Among their
children was a son named Battaile Harrison."
A handwritten note in the margin says "This family line can only be
proved as far back as Andrew (d. 1718)". This note was followed by three
initials that look like "Npr" or "Wpr".
I'll summarize what the book says about the ancestors of Andrew
(d.1718).
Richard Harrison had a brother named Andrew. Their father's name is
Anthony Harrison, Jr.
Anthony's father was Anthony, Sr. (b. ca. 1563), son of Peter Harrison
(d. 1593).
Peter's father is John Harrison. "Written history of this family seems
to begin with the will of John Harrison of St. Andrews, Cambridge,
England recorded in 1538 in which John mentions his sons, Peter, Hugh
George, and Richard."
