Subject: Hooker Family
[1174]
Hi,
We obviously are not related. I do have, however, some info that possibly
relates to the families you mentioned.
[1175]
From Robert Barnes (previously one of the head researchers at MHS) notes I
copied at the MD Historical Society, Thomas Hooker came to Md in 1649,
becoming a Quaker at Richard Beard's house on South River. He married a
Joan--, who died 12 day, 12 month, 1675/6 in Anne Arundel Co. Thomas' will is
dated Nov. 8, 1683. He died c 1683. Had five children, one being Thomas b.
May 13, 1660 or 1666.
[1176]
This Thomas (II) married a Sarah and moved to Baltimore Co. Their children
included Thomas Hooker III, who married an Eleanor. Children of Thomas III
and Eleanor included John, Samuel, Benjamin, Richard, Ruth, Edith. This
Samuel Hooker married Sara, then died c1773. Samuel's will names children to
be Samuel, Richard, Thomas, Sarah who in 1754 married Richard Richards,
Sophia who married Arthur Chenowith, and Lovely. That seems to be your
connection! Do you want a copy of these two page notes?
[1177]
I have a few other odd bits of info on this family, noting as good as the
above, but it would take me awhile to pull together from my collection of MD
resource books. I did see several mentions of Arthur Chenowith families,
again mostly just signing petitions, etc.
[1178]
As stated above, my Hooker line does not seem connected to this one.
Regards, Tom Hooker, Lake Monticello, VA
