[506] CENSUS 1880: Carrol County IN, Washington Twp.
[507]
BIOGRAPHY: Source Roger Carroll Breckenridge. Resided in Washing Twp,
Carroll County In in 1880, In 1860, while Charles was still single, he was
classified as a Carpenter and lived with his sister, Charolott Breckenridge
Dunlap and her family in Union Twp, White County. In 1800 Charle's brother,
John, age 53, lived with him and his family.
[508]
STORY: In about 1970, my father (Gordon Paul, b 1905) wrote:
And then there was Great, Great Uncle Charlie Breckinridge. He was awfully
old when I knew him. He must have been near 90. He always sat in a chair
alongside a pot-bellied stove, a blanket in his lap and a cane in his hand. I
think he bored my father and mother and the rest of my relatives, but he could
tell wonderful stories, and I loved to listen to him. He had been an aide to
General Lou Wallace in the Civil War, and he took me with him from Island
Number 10, on to Fort Donaldson, Vicksburgh, to Chattanooga and Missionary
Ridge, to Kings Mountain, to Atlanta and finally to the sea. But in Uncle
Charlie's mind the Rebels and the Democrats were all mixed up. I can hear him
now, waving his cane, "By durn" he said, "We chased them cursed Democrats from
Shiloh to Chicamagua."

On visiting your web page I have noticed that you have a James Egbert b.
1695 as the son of Tunis Egbert and Hanna Tilje. I had recently received
information, which I am in the process of verifying, that states that a
James Egbert b. Jan. 10, 1695 was the son of Tunis Egbert. It further
states that this James Egbert married 1st to Catherine Deny abt 1715 and
2nd to Catherine Baker abt 1728. Between the two marriages I show him
fathering 14 children. The names of his children repeat down through the
generations, some of these names also appear in your listing of children
of Tunis and Hanna Egbert. I ask if you have further information about
the James Egbert born in 1695 and if the possibility exists to you that
these may be one and the same.
